  2. 1. Q: Why do you think Grandpa Will yelled in Yiddish when he saw that Hannah had written 5 numbers on herself?
A: In my opinion, he yelled because the numbers were an emotional scar from the past. Since Grandpa Will was sent to a concentration camp, he got 5 numbers tattooed on his arm, and it reminds him his horrible time there. So when he saw it on Hannah, he got mad because he never wants anyone else to experience what happened to him there, or something.

    2. Q: Why do you think only Grandpa Will and Aunt Eva were the only ones that survived WWII in his family?
A: In my opinion, I think they only survived because a good German stowed them away in their house. Maybe, the rest of Grandpa Will's family would have also been hid in the walls, but they couldn't fit because they were too big. Possibly, the Nazi's came and killed their family, but didn't find them because they were hidden.

    1. Answer for question 1:
I think he yelled because this number was given to him by the Nazis. They took him to a concentration camp and the number shows that he is the ______(st)(nd)(rd)(th) person to come to the camp. He got mad when Hannah wrote the numbers on her arm because he didn't want the same horrible past for his granddaughter. Even though it was just a symbol that she didn't know the meaning of

    2. answer for question 2:
I believe it could be because they escaped. The Nazis came to take the family but some how they managed to escape from the house. They found a family to hade them. They moved from place to place, laying low until the camps died off and it was safe again to walk the streets.

    3. Ar: I think he got mad because, the number remined him of the horrible past in the Nazi concentration camp. Also, maybe Grandpa Will thought that Hannah was making fun of him and she didn't know the true meaning of 5-digit numbers.

  3. Q1 - What do you think the 5-digits on Grandpa Will's arm mean?

A1 - I think that the numbers are there for identification. If Grandpa Will went to a concentration camp, he might have gotten it to show what number he is out of all Jewish people in that camp.

Q2 - Why did Grandpa Will get angry at Hannah for writing numbers on her arm?

A2 - I think that Grandpa Will got angry because he thought that she was making a joke out of it. Being a young girl, Hannah might have not realized what the numbers were for and thought that they had no significance. Grandpa Will on the the other thought of the numbers as something much more than numbers. To him, it might have been a symbol of the pain he endured during the war. The fact that Hannah doesn't understand that might have been the reason he got angry at her.

Answer:I think the 5 digit numbers are '97241' or '18202' because, on ther front cover, there are 5 digit numbers which are the numbers for the Jewish people while they were in the Nazi concentration camp (I think). These numbers could be the 5 digit numbers on Grandpa Will's arm.

    1. 1. A: I think they didn't notice because the T.V was on, she approached from behind them and Grandpa Will was ranting on about the show. Also, she may be a ninja!

    2. A1) I believe they didn't notice her because Grandpa Will was yelling at the TV and all of them must have looked towards the TV because they were wondering why Grandpa Will was yelling.

A2) He must have got mad because it reminded him of when he was young and how badly the soldiers put the numbers on his arm.

  8. Q1: What kind of things do you think happened to Grandpa Will to make him the way he is?

A1: I think Grandpa Will is acting strangely because of all the suffering and pain caused by the Nazis in the holocaust. The kinds of things I think happened to him, was seeing friends, including family, die in the concentration camps. I can bet you he was probably in a concentration camp for a long time, imagine being surrounded in death! I don't know about you, but I would be traumatized.

Q2: What kind of emotions do you think Grandpa Will felt when Hannah wrote the number on her hand?

A2: An emotion I think Grandpa Will felt was sadness. Grandpa Will probably remembered all that had happened in the holocaust. Having been a survivor, Grandpa Will probably remembered most of the memories. Another emotion I think Grandpa Will felt was shock. Grandpa was probably very surprised that Hannah would do that. Of course she didn't mean it in that way, but Grandpa still probably felt really bad.

    1. 1. A: In my opinion, I think Grandpa Will because the way he is now for a few reasons. Firstly, when he was sent to the concentration camp, he probably was forced to work and work endlessly until he dropped. Secondly, I think maybe he was tortured by the Nazi’s. Lastly, I believe that maybe one of the friends or family he had in the concentration camp were killed right in front of him.

Q2) Why do you think Grandpa Will got furious when Hannah wrote the digits on her arm?

A2) In my opinion, I believe that when Hannah wrote the digits, it reminded him of the harsh days when he was young and how painfully the soldiers put the numbers in his arms. He might have also thought that Hannah was making fun of him.

Q: why do you think Hannahs grandpa will got so mad when she wrote the number on her arm?/what do they mean?-
A: Maybe because her grandpa went to a consentration camp. When he got there they put the permanent number on his arm. This number may show that he was the _______ person in the camp. He got mad because he didnt want Hannah or anyone
(number^) else to ever have to go through what he did there.

    TWO)
Q: why do you think Hannas family members (except for aunt Eva) favor Aron over Hannah?
A: It could be because he is the youngest, and he is like the baby of the family. Or, possibly because he cares more then Hannah does about the past and the stories. He likes to listen and is friendly where as Hannah is more stand off ish.

  13. Q-1
Why do you think hannah's entrance was not notice by her family?

    A-1
In my opinion, I believe that Hannah did not walk in screaming and shouting and so her family did not notice her as they were paying more attention to the t.v. She possibly could have walked in behind them and was trying to be as quiet as possible.

    Q-2
Why do you think grandpa got very angry when Hannah wrote numbers on her arm?

    A-2
In my opinion, I think the numbers were used in the torture camps to identify the workers. Grandpa did not want to see any one else go through this and when he saw it on hannah he was disappointed with here for thinking it would make him happy.

    1. A1) I think that Hannah's entrance was not noticed because of all of the attention was at Grandpa Will screaming at the TV. When someone freaks out as much as he did it's very hard not to notice which made everyone entering even harder to notice.

A2) I think that Grandpa Will was very angry when Hannah wrote the numbers on her arm because those numbers mean more than just any plain old numbers. Those were how he was known in the concentration camps and every time he sees them it reminds him of the pain and torture he went through there. When Hannah wrote them on her arm he thought about the camps and how he never wants anyone to go through what he did.

  14. Q1:) why do you think that hannah would right on her arm numbers ?
A1:) Because she wonted when Hannah's relatives were making fools of themselves over her new born brother Hannah then took a ball point pen and written a string of numbers on the side of her own left arm, hard enough to almost break the skin.
Q2:)why would hannah's grandpa will get mad at her for righting numbers on her own arm?
A2:) Because in concentration camps back in those days when hitler was around they had to get those numbers on there arms to track people down and also probably because they could have hurt him and he doesn't wont those bad memorize back because of how mean it was and how he had this horrible time with his life in the consentration camps :(

  15. Q1) Why do you think Grandpa Will was screaming at the television?
A1) I think that Grandpa Will was screaming at the television because it had shown people from the war and since he lost pretty much everybody in his family that is a very angering seen. I think that the war was an event in his life that he will never forget and he will never forgive what the Nazi's did to him.

Q2) What do you think the numbers on Grandpa Will's arm mean and why was he so mad when Hannah wrote them on her arm?
A2) I think that the numbers on Grandpa Will's arm represent the identification method that they used in the concentration camps. Instead of having to know everyone's name for they just marked them by numbers. These number are more than what they seem to Grandpa Will. These numbers represent the pain and torture that he went through in the camp and that that time will forever be remembered. When Hannah wrote the numbers on her arm to him it just brought the pain back. He did not want anyone to go through what he did and Hannah writing the numbers will only cause him more painful memories.
